This year, we take each month to focus on one of the character traits from Galatians 5:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, KINDNESS, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22-23
Each month, we emphasize that fruit in chapel, in classrooms, and each teacher will be selecting a student for recognition that they feel exemplified that trait in specific ways during the month.
Fruit: KINDNESS
Our focus for January is kindness, which provides so many opportunities for students to put into practice. Every day and in every situation, there is an opportunity for teachers to emphasize this particular fruit of the Spirit and to encourage students who display kindness to their fellow students.
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
Paul the Apostle (Ephesians 4:32)
Student Responses
When we asked the students how we can show kindness, here were some of their reponses:
“Let other people go first or have the first turn.”
“Share with others.”
“If someone is sad, say kind things to cheer them up.”
“If someone needs someone to play with, play with them.”
Those are some pretty good responses, and we’ll check in with them again at the end of the month for more when we recognize specific students during assembly/chapel for their display of character.
