Kindergarten: Why It’s So Important & Why Choose CCCS?

Kindergarten Prineville Crook County Christian School

As parents, we all want what is best for our children. Understanding the importance and benefits of Kindergarten is just one factor that helps determine future success. The other factor is choosing a program that will help your child grow in confidence and prepare them during this important developmental milestone. The environment, curriculum and quality of staff are all critical factors that should be carefully considered when selecting a program. The transition from preschool (or no school) to early literacy is a key stepping stone which prepares them for future success academically and emotionally.

The Importance of Kindergarten

Research shows us that Kindergarten is an important bridge that plays a crucial role in a child’s future success in school and life. in particular, full-day programs provide an environment that blends play-based and academic-based learning that allows students to develop as independent learners and readers while fostering creativity, curiosity, and a joy of learning.

Kindergarten plays a key role in social development, giving students an opportunity to interact with others and to develop the ability to learn in a classroom setting. It also is a time of emotional development, as students build confidence, independence, and how to express themselves in productive ways with one another and their teacher(s). Last but not least, Kindergarten plays a crucial role in helping them develop early literacy. This critical piece is a key predictor of future academic success. Building confident readers is critical to building confident lifelong learners in the classroom and beyond.

Why Choose Crook County Christian School for Kindergarten?

Crook County Christian School is much more than just an alternative to public education, we believe it is your best choice to help develop your child spiritually, academically, and emotionally for long-term success in academics and life. While there are many things that set us apart from other options, here are several things to consider when choosing our program.

  1. Experienced and Knowledgeable Staff
At the heart of a successful experience is teaching staff. We believe we have the best team in the region and we invest in them and understand their importance. They are experienced, gifted, and understand the importance of early literacy and how to teach it. They are extremely competent and confident in the curriculum, and highly experienced in classroom management. They excel at bringing out the best in each student/class, and you will not find a better or more cohesive Kindergarten and First Grade team to foster early literacy!
  2. Team-based Approach
Not only are our Kindergarten and First Grade teachers excellent teachers individually, but they form a strong team that builds from year to year and closely partner with one another. Additionally, our lead Kindergarten teacher works closely with our entire Early Learning team and students. Our preschool teachers know exactly what to expect and how to help prepare students for Kindergarten success, and our preschool students build relationship and trust throughout the year making the transition a smooth and familiar one from Day 1!
  3. Strong Curriculum and Continuity
A key aspect of building confidence in our students is consistency. By maintaining the same curriculum from preschool through early elementary, students gain confidence by recognizing and building on concepts they’ve already learned. Having a strong curriculum is essential, but having that curriculum in the hands of the RIGHT teacher is invaluable!
  4. Spiritual Development
At the heart of our curriculum, teachers, classrooms, and program is a spiritual emphasis in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is consistent at every grade level and we want every student to develop an age-appropriate understanding of the Gospel. It is at the heart of all we do. We also emphasize character, and students learn the “Fruit of the Spirit” from Galatians 5:22-23 from an early age.
  5. Limited Class Sizes
We purposely keep our Kindergarten classes small so that teachers have the ability to help meet the needs of each individual student. This also prevents students from “slipping through the cracks” and allows for earlier intervention and parental support when necessary. We want to see EVERY child succeed, and smaller classes are critical during these key developmental phases.
  6. Family Environment and Involvement
We see ourselves as part of a team with each other and with each family. This is very important to understanding and meeting the needs of each student while bringing families into that process. The best success indicator for any child is a strong connection between school and family. When support is needed, we work with parents to help make sure their student has the best chance for success inside and outside the classroom.
  7. Our Desire To Be the Best Option
This isn’t just something we say, it something at the heart of every program we offer and every decision we make. We are committed to being your best option and it drives us to continually improve and strive for excellence as a staff, school and ministry!
