Major Enrollment Milestone
Crook County Christian School is so excited to announce that we have achieved another significant milestone. When we replanted the school this year, our goal was to enroll 50-70 students. We believed that would be essential to establishing a strong foundation to build upon and a DNA and culture to carry forward as we grow. We started September 1, 2022 with 51 students, and continued to grow throughout the year to 60 students in January. We had set a goal to have 80 students enrolled for Fall 2023 by the end of the year on June 1. We are pleased to announce that as of May 25th, we enrolled our 81st student for Fall! This represents an increase of over 60% from enrollment in September last year, and propels us towards our goal of 120 for September 2023.
Striking Parallels to 1994 – Our First Year
As I was talking with our founding principal, Sue Uptain-Gillham, the parallels are remarkable to our very first year of operation. On May 11th, 1994 First Assembly determined we needed to open a school by Fall 1994 with a 90% congregational vote. In September 1994, we had enrolled a total of 44 students to begin the year. By February 1994, that number had increased to 64 students. By the time school ended in June 1995, a total of 88 students were enrolled, and by September, 120 students were enrolled! It was at that point, we realized the need to build building #1 which now houses our elementary program for Fall 2023. What an uncanny parallel to our first year!
What is drawing families, teachers and students to CCCS?
This really has been an incredible year in every way imaginable. Though it wasn’t easy, we have watched God provide in miraculous ways at every turn to take an impossible situation and make all things possible. He helped us build an incredible team to start the year, it is our teachers and staff that really make CCCS such a special place. And as the year has progressed, and we’ve seen growth coming, he has provided us with incredible new team members. Because of this we have seen:
- Students thriving spiritually and academically
- Test scores rising (in spite of downward national trends)
- Families finding a unique environment that builds a strong sense of community
- Staff who love to be here and love their students
- Staff are empowered, capable, and are given the tools to succeed
- People coming alongside and investing in the vision
- A commitment to always pursuing excellence in everything we do
- God’s continuous hand of provision
The only place we can truly give the credit to is God. He makes all things possible, and He always provides for His will and His plan. We have seen Him affirm that in every way possible this year, and it makes us really excited to think about what He has in store for next year and beyond.
September 2023 Goal: 120+ enrollments
So, as we look forward to the summer, we are looking forward to seeing God continue this remarkable story. And while we have set a goal for enrollment, in reality, what we truly want is not based on a number. As a team, we have only prayed one prayer since Day 1: “God, bring us the families that you want to be here, and that you want us to minister to.”
As one of our teachers said after the last chapel:
“I can’t help but be excited. As amazing as this year was, it feels like it is just the beginning!”
