It’s hard to believe that Monday, January 23, 2023 will mark the halfway point of the 2022/23 school year. While we previously operated Crook County Christian School in Prineville from 1994-2015 (starting with remodeling our church facility in 1994 and outfitting it with classrooms, and then building the first building in 1997), Fall of 2022 saw us replanting Crook County Christian School and rebuilding its programs from the ground up. Through it all, one thing stands out so clearly above all else: God is an amazing provider and He has the ability to do more than we can ask or think! As we look back on the year so far, we are in awe of what God has done to not only meet the immediate needs, but to do so much more! Here are a few highlights and accomplishments we are excited to give Christ ALL the glory for!
Building the CCCS Core Team (Faculty and Staff)
One of the most important assets for any school, if not THE most important asset, is its staff. We are so grateful to God for his provision in this key area. When we began hiring staff in June, we could see that He was building an amazing team. They love each other, they love the students, and they love what they do! Having just finished our staff evaluations last week, for the first half of the year, we were blown away. Our teachers are gifted, and they do an excellent job of training our students academically and spiritually while building student confidence and relationship. Additionally, they are all dedicated to excellence and continuously improving their skills and education. I can’t imagine having a better team to work with, entrusting them with our own children, and we are blessed with this amazing staff!

A New Playground
About 25 years ago, some amazing volunteers helped us place the original playground (swings and monkey bars) in the ground. This year, God provided a beautiful new playground for our students! We are humbled by the generosity of those who God has worked through to make this possible. Our students LOVE the new playground and were so excited to see it come to fruition after so many years! What a blessing!

A New Kitchen and Cafeteria
While we started the year with folding tables and chairs, God quickly provided new cafeteria tables and a newly updated and painted cafeteria. We also received a generous donation of brand new appliances (stoves, freezers, refrigerators and microwaves) for both the kitchen/cafeteria and the staff resource room. Once again, we are in awe of God’s provision and the generosity of others!

School Supplies for Teachers, Classrooms and Students
In September, Mann Mortgage made a generous donation of school supplies that went directly to our students. That same month, a large big-box retailer made generous donation of dozens of boxes of brand new school supplies for teachers and classrooms. This was a HUGE blessing and we have already put a large number of those supplies to use in our classrooms or provided supplies to students and staff as needed.

Facility Updates and Improvements
At the beginning of the year, we made the decision while the classrooms and building were empty to repaint and make updates in several areas of the school. Apollo Painting did an incredible job repainting halls and classrooms, and we were able to update all the office with new paint and flooring. Additionally, a generous donation came in just in time to replace a failing furnace. We also received a donation of brand-new air conditioning units for each classroom immediately before school started. God’s timing is perfect!

New Classroom Furnishings and Equipment
Students and teachers need desks, chairs, tables and other equipment, and we entered June confident God would provide. Not only did he provide, but most of the donations were for brand new equipment. Students and classrooms were outfitted with new desks and chairs, teachers were furnished with desks and new laptops, necessary furniture for preschool classrooms was purchased, and several more donations came in allowing teachers a supplemental budget to help them furnish their classrooms.
